The first step is to cancel your employment contract with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE). The employer usually handles this procedure, but you must ensure that it has been completed. Inform your employer of your intention to leave the country and cancel your visa. It is important to agree in advance on the timeline and required actions. The employer will then submit the documents to the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFAD) or through the online portal. After the application is approved, you must leave the country within a specified period following cancellation (usually 30 days).

In this case, your sponsor is a member of your family. Only the sponsor can submit the cancellation application. After document verification and payment of the required fees, GDRFAD will issue approval for the cancellation of residency.

First, it is important to initiate the company liquidation process. To cancel the visa, liquidation documents must be provided. If you have employees, their visas must be cancelled first. After that, you may proceed with cancelling the owner’s residence visa.

In most cases, the following documents may be required for cancellation:
→ Original Emirates ID and visa.
→ Application form.
→ Copy of passport.
→ Confirmation from the insurance company regarding the cancellation of medical insurance.
→ Additional documents. In some cases, extra documents may be required, such as clearance certificates confirming no outstanding liabilities, a marriage certificate (for a family visa), etc.
